Disabled athletes score award nominations
KwaThema- The KwaThema Disability Club and two of its athletes have been nominated for the Ekurhuleni Sports Awards, which will be held on May 27.
The club has been nominated in the Team of the Year category, while athletes Zandile Nthlapho (21) and Mbali Madondo (23) have been nominated in the Women with Disability Sports category.
Coach of the club, Aubrey Mathibela, is very proud of his athletes.
“I am very happy with my athletes because they are showing people that hard work and determination pays off,” says Mathibela.
Two other athletes from the club, Tshepo Bhebe (23) and Tshepang Juberd (24), will be heading to Brazzaville, in the Congo, to compete in the 11th African Games.
The games are taking place from September 4 to 19.
Both athletes qualified to compete in the games at the 2015 Nedbank National Championships for Physically Disabled, which was held at the University of Johannesburg on April 4.
