KwaThema netballers ready to compete

KwaThema - The Spartans netball team from KwaThema are ready to compete this year.

Team manager Funekam Mayoyo (23) says the netball team was formed in 2008 by a group of girls from Kwathema who decided to stay away from the social challenges faced by teenagers, such as substance abuse and teenage pregnancy.

She explains they recently participated in a netball tournament in Richards Bay, KwaZulua-Natal, and competed against teams from all over the country.

“For the last two years, we have also been affiliated to the Eastern Gauteng Netball League,” says Mayoyo.

She adds the team is passionate about netball as it helps young girls maintain a healthy lifestyle and learn team work.

According to Mayoyo they are in the process of organising a local netball tournament.

The team comprises 15 players, aged between 21 and 29.
