Mayweather remains the champion

Mxolisi ‘Mayweather’ Nombewu remains the world bantamweight champion after his defending fight.

He defended his title at the East London’s Orient Theatre on Sunday, taking on against Mfusi Maxhayi.

His win came after he managed to beat his opponent and scored more points.

As he promised, Mayweather defended his title and remains undefeated.

Mayweather was crowned the world bantamweight champion in September last year.

He won the fight against Siphosethu Mvula at East London’s Orient Theatre.

He was announced as the new world bantamweight champion after he knocked out his opponent during the third round.

Speaking about his victory, Mayweather said he did not doubt his fighting skills and knew that he was going to defend the title.

“I did not fight for myself, but fought to make the Gauteng province proud,” said Mayweather.

He explained that he was mentally and physically fit enough for the fight after training very hard.

Adding that he is ready for any boxer who may challenge him in the ring in an attempt to steal his title.

He said he is proud that he still remains the world champion.

He believes that being a world champion will encourage other young boxers from the township to aim high and focus on achieving their dreams.

Coach Themba Zulu said Mayweather’s victory means reaching the goal he has wanted to achieve for more than 10 years of being a boxing coach.

“I had no doubt that Mayweather was not only going to be the SA champ but was also going to be crowned the world champion,” concluded an excited and proud Zulu.
