Local gospel artist sings to heal others

The local gospel artist Nokuthula Fundama-Manana (40) says she sings gospel to give hope to others.

Fundama-Manana is from KwaThema’s Rest in Peace section.

She did her primary school education at Job Maseko Primary School before proceeding to Kenneth Masekela Secondary School in KwaThema.

In 1993 she went to Vaal Triangle Technicon to study Engineering Computer Systems.

At the age of 14 she joined Heavenly Youth Christian Movement youth organisation where her interest in writing songs grew stronger.

She started performing her songs in 1990 with the organisation as they traveled around different provinces.

Nokuthula says she sings gospel as a way to spread gospel and bring back hope and give motivation to those who have lost hope.

Talking about the challenges that most up and coming gospel artists are faced with is not having enough tools to market themselves.

“Getting known by the public is the most difficult part in the music industry which leads to others deciding to quit,” she says.

In 2012 she joined the Music Academy of Gauteng to study music theory to sharpen her music skills.

In March last year, Nokuthula started her music project to record her debut album.

To make the album a success, she worked with Sabelo Mtshali as a producer and her album titled Ngizoqina was released at the beginning of this year.

She concluded by promising her fans that soon, she will be recording her first DVD.
