Youth fight against unemployment
While other young people wait on the government to provide them with employment, some are creating employment for themselves.
After realising that nyaope was going to destroy their lives, Kamogelo Thwala (20) and Perfect Thukwane (22) thought of something that will help them change their lives.
It was three months after the two young people from Tsakane quit nyaope and started a car wash and dustbin cleaning project in their township.
To be able to see their project operational, they had to clean one of the biggest illegal dumping sites to change it into their place of business.
Today Thwala and Thukwane and others who joined them in the business are self employed and able to make ends meet.
Kamogelo said they are working hard so that they can create employment for other unemployed youth in and around Kwatsaduza.
He added that quitting drugs made them responsible young men, not only in their families but in the community.
“Changing our ways was the best decision as our future looks bright ahead of us,” said Kamogelo.
Kamogelo is not only an upcoming businessman, but he is also a basic computer training student.
Perfect believes that drugs destroy many young people’s future.
He thanked the Tsakane Youth Development Programme for granting them the opportunity to choose the way that will lead them to success.
Perfect encouraged parents to support their children who are on drugs.
“We are who we are today because our parents were there for us when we needed them,” perfect said.
He concluded by challenging the drug addicts to seek help and change to better their lives.
