N17 staff decorate cake on World Aids Day

The staff at the N17 joined hands on Monday when they took part in a cake decorating competition to celebrate World Aids Day.

The different departments competed against each other to see which cake was decorated the best.

With the theme being Aids, everyone jumped in and brought their own decorations to make it a joyous occasion.

Leana Haywood, spokesman for the N17, says this competition was held to get staff awareness on Aids.

She says if all join hands and work together, a patient can still live a full life.

The theatre team decorated the most beautiful cake with Aids ribbons representing the 32 staff members in that department.

The joined hands to symbolise the fact that people can work together irrespective of race.

The other teams had fun decorating their cakes.

Mara van der Westhuizen from neo natal used the red Aids ribbon as the central focus point to decorate her department’s cake.

At the entrance the two hospital laboratories displayed pamphlets and Esmarie Vermaak baked small cup cakes to mark the occasion.

The neatly decorated cakes were taken to the relevant departments where staff members could enjoy them at tea-time.
