Duduza girl makes it to X-Factor top 7

Duduza resident, Princess Lungile Mekoa has recently appeared on South Africa's X-Factor.

She attended to Mackenzie Primary School then later matriculated at Nigel secondary school

During her high school career she was an athlete, vocalist, dancer and soccer player and even has a few awards to her name.

She began as a solo artist in 2007 at school concerts when she fell in love with music.

She recorded two singles which made it to YFM titled “Moving on” and “Trust issues.

She says initially her dad did not approve of her singing career but gave her his blessing before he passed away.

She says she has a young daughter who she adores and plans to invest money towards her education should she win the competition.

She concludes she believes she will remain consistent and relevant by changing the entertainment industry.

She adds that she had no money to go to SABC1’s X-Factor audition yet a friend helped her out.

Her inspiration comes from her mother who played both parenting roles.

Francis Mekeo her mother says her daughter used to steal her dad’s tape recorder and record her voice from a very tender age.

“I was very happy that she had entered the X-Factor as she took me by surprise after I encouraged her to go further with her musical career.”

Princess was given a life line after her fellow contestant MJ was eliminated from the competition.

She then had to pull out all stops in the top 8 to avoid the same predicament.

She performed “Titanium” on Saturday and survived the bottom two.
