Mawesh loves hip hop
Ismael 'Mawesh' Masemola (23) from Tsakane Extension 19 is one of the up-and-coming hip hop artists from Kwatsaduza.
Mawesh did his primary and secondary school education in Limpopo before coming to Gauteng to study radio broadcasting at Intec College.
He says he realised that he has fallen in love with music in 1998 while he was still at school.
He says he later fell more in love with hip hop music and decided to start following his dream of becoming a well known hip hop artist.
Mawesh said he gets the courage to continue following his dream from his fans and family.
“I was always told that it is not easy to make it in the music industry and I see that now, however, the challenges will not stand in my way of success,” he said.
He continued to say that one of the challenges that he comes across in music is not being taken seriously by the community and not having enough opportunities to showcase his talent.
“For the people to love your music, they need to see and hear you perform,” said Mawesh.
Mawesh released his first album with 13 tracks in March and says he is working towards releasing a second album next year.
Giving a word of motivation to the youth, he said every success starts with a dream.
“One needs to dream, act towards fulfilling that dream without losing hope and then live the dream,” he motivated.
