Man assaulted for robbery

A man was assaulted by the community in Daggafontein after he, and a second man, allegedly robbed a deaf man of his cell phone.

The incident took place at Daggafontein on Tuesday at around 2pm.

Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora says the victim was on his way to buy airtime from the tuck shop when he was attacked by the robbers who robbed him of his cell phone.

He says the man screamed for help and the community came out to assist.

“The community assaulted the suspects and later the police was called into the scene,” says Ramphora, adding that among the community members who assaulted the suspect was a man who was identified by a house robbery victim as a suspect.

The suspect was seen wearing the shoes that were stolen during the robbery.

When the police arrived on the scene, they arrested the two robbery suspects and the house robbery suspect.

All the suspects are expected to appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court soon.
