Today is National Recycling Day

September 19 is National Recycling Day to remind all to clean up our country by recycling.

“Gather family, friends and colleagues to give a few hours back to Mother Nature by picking up litter,” says Ursula Henneberry, operations director of the Paper Recycling Association of South Africa.

Falling under Clean-Up SA Week, from September 15 to 21 it’s aim is to create awareness about the environmental and economic benefit of recycling.

There are many ways the community can partake in this activity.Recycle beer cans, cold drink cans, food tins, foil and foil packaging.

Of course white paper should always be recycled, as well as with newspapers, magazines and cardboard boxes.

South Africa’s first clean-up week was held in 1999.
