Local soccer stars to the soccer trials

To keep the flag of Kwatsaduza flying higher, KwaThema soccer stars have been going to the soccer trials.

The players have been attending different soccer trials for the teams that play in the South African Premier Soccer League.

This time, one of the Ayoba-Yo-Youth Soccer Academy players did well at the trials.

Five of the senior team’s players have been in the trials, as part of the bafana campaign, which aims to pinpiont players who will be trained for possible selection to the Bafana Bafana team in the future.

Reginald ‘Mnyama’ Mhlanga, a KwaThema resident, passed the trials.

Five U/11 players also went to the Mamelodi Sundowns FC trials on Wednesday and Thursday, U/13 will go today (Friday) and tomorrow while the U/15 players will be showing off their soccer skills on Sunday.

Speaking on behalf of the academy, Innocent Mayoyo, technical director, said he is proud of his boys.

“Reginald is proof that the players from the township also have talent in soccer,” said Mayoyo, adding that he believes that more of the players who will be playing in the national team in five years to come, will be from Kwatsaduza.
