Attempted rape case finalised

Justice served

Senzo Dlamini (38) was sentenced to six years in prison by the Springs Regional Court on Thursday.

He was found guilty of attempting to rape an 11-year-old girl in KwaThema, in 2012.

The magistrate also declared him unfit to carry a firearm.

Dlamini, who pleaded guilty, was alleged to have asked the young girl where her parents were, and when he realised that they were not at home, he asked her for a pen and paper.

When the young girl obliged, Dlamini followed her inside the house and attempted to rape her.

The girl managed to escape.

She alerted her mother, who was not far away, about what had just happened.

The community then confronted Dlamini and beat him up, before he was saved by police.
