Boxing to the top

Boxing is one of the sporting codes that Clever Mudingi (42) from KwaThema believes can change one's life.

Mudingi started to fall in love with boxing in 2009. Clever says, despite his age, he has become a dedicated, great fighter who continues to beat the odds to stay healthy and active in the ring.

Clever is the father of two daughters and a husband who is passionate about sport. He has fought two professional fights, winning one and losing one.

He believes that eating healthily is one of the things that keeps a boxer strong in the ring. “In boxing, the boxer faces the opponent alone and only depends on his ability to give powerful punches to defeat the opponent,” Clever says with a smile.

He says that the one important thing that his coach, Themba Zulu, told him is that when getting into the boxing ring he needs to forget about his challenges and focus on defeating the opponent.

He says one day he wants to become one of the world’s boxing champions. Clever is now training hard for his coming fight. He will be fighting a non-title fight in Mpumalanga on February 8 against Thomas Dladla. Clever thanks the company that helped him with his boxing kit.
