Ward 74 Clr Thulani Simelane said that as a ward, they decided to dedicate the day to spoiling the pensioners.

Kwa-Thema – The learners at Kwa-Thema School of Specialisation pampered 50 pensioners from Ward 74 last Wednesday.

This was an opportunity for the learners to showcase their skills acquired during their hairdressing, massages, manicures and pedicures training.

During the event, the Parkland Clinic and CoE health department offered health check tests to the pensioners.

Ward 74 Clr Thulani Simelane said as a ward, they decided to dedicate the day to spoiling the pensioners.

“We approached the school and other stakeholders to help make the day a success.”

During the event, the learners shared that after completing the course, they had challenges opening their businesses because the school didn’t offer them certificates.

Simelane promised to follow up with the school to determine how to remedy the situation and ensure they are accredited.

“With these skills, we hope they can start their businesses and be independent. Ours is to ensure that all community members are empowered,” he added.
