Music group hopes for the youth to follow their dreams

The group has been award-nominated before

Langaville – Damage Control, a group of four artists Kabzalistic (Kabelo Tshole), Flowmatic (Nkosinathi Masango), Twista_ZA (Anele Mbele) and Madala Lyric (Issac Zuma) prides itself in making everlasting melodies that will shake the world.

Based in Langaville, the quartet specialises in almost all genres as they don’t like to criticise music so long as it speaks to the soul.

Flowmatic said, “We are all inspired by different things but our main inspiration is our vision, which is to be one of the best African groups and artists on the international stage. We want to be like Burna Boy and other African giants.”

He said they have been doing music for a long time as some members of the group started in 2014 while others joined in 2018.

“We started taking the craft seriously in 2017 when in Grade 10, that’s when we realised that this is not a hobby but a career,” he said.

The group is also talented in other aspects as Twista is a rugby player, Madala Lyric is a photographer, videographer and editor, Kabzalistic is an actor and Flowmatic is a digital market strategist.

Flowmatic said they have worked with a number of producers such as Natee_RSA and Core Black from Dayveton who produced I Know and Lomntana in 2020, Tuks om Veit from Kwa-Thema who produced intomb’encan and INyakanyaka and the group’s new release Bigger & Great, Syzzer beats _Rsa from Tsakani who produced ufeleba and City. The group also worked with Mash Light who composed the beat behind the song Nyakanyaka, and Riot Row from Benoni composed the Bigger & Great beat.

“In 2018 as Grade 11 learners we shared the stage with the late Killer Kau in The Legend Village in Kwa-Thema and Areece,” said Flowmatic.

He said they got nominated twice for the Live Your Dreams Youth Awards in 2018 and 2019 and unfortunately did not win.

“That did not stop us from chasing our dream. In 2021 we started getting airplay on various radio stations across the country,” he added.

The group’s song Inyakanyaka can be also streamed on online platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Fire. Flowmatic said he wishes for young people to stay in school and follow their dreams.

“In the townships, we live in, we have a problem of high school dropouts due to teenage pregnancy, drugs and other substances and crime. It seems the youth has lost hope and I believe there are opportunities, they just need to have dreams, believe in their dreams and follow them,” he concluded.
