Two arrested in Kwa-Thema for possession of unlicensed firearms

SAPS spokesperson Captain Neldah Sekgobela said officers confronted the suspect and he was arrested.

Kwa-Thema – Two unlicensed firearms were removed from the streets of Kwa-Thema by members of the EMPD on Saturday.

One of the suspects was spotted by members of the EMPD shooting randomly in the air.

SAPS spokesperson Captain Neldah Sekgobela said the officers confronted the suspect and he was arrested and detained after he failed to produce the licence for the firearm.

Another suspect was arrested by Kwa-Thema Crime Prevention.

“The officers noticed the suspect who looked suspicious and confronted him.

“They found a pistol and 14 rounds of live ammunition in his possession. The suspect was arrested,” she said.

The suspects will appear before the Springs Magistrate’s Court soon.
