Coaching clinic held in Duduza by Badminton SA senior team

The badminton All Africa Championships are underway in Benoni.

Duduza – Team Badminton South Africa (BSA) visited the Eyethu Badminton Club on Thursday to host a coaching clinic at the Duduza Multipurpose Centre.

This was in line with BSA’s programme because South Africa is hosting the All Africa Championships in Benoni.

Eyethu Director Roller Mongala said, “It was a memorable treat for those in attendance. The rain made it difficult for most of our players and learners to attend, but there is a chance for them to see the team in action at the tournament.”

Mongala said they were grateful to BSA’s head coach and his young team for the opportunity.

BSA coach Stewart Carson said, “We showcased what badminton is while coaching the children.”

Carson said there are children in Duduza who are doing well nationally, like Refiloe Tshabalala.

“I can say in good faith that in the next five years, Duduza will have top players, even in the national badminton teams,” said Carson.

Action in the All Africa Championships saw South Africa face Uganda on Monday and Mozambique on Tuesday.
