Faulty transformers result in load reduction in Kwa-Thema
Engineers are currently on-site at the Kwa-Thema substation
Kwa-Thema – After electricity equipment failed on Wednesday in Kwa-Thema, load reduction was introduced.
Out of three transformers, two are faulty due to the damage caused by load-shedding which left only one transformer taking care of the whole of Kwa-Thema.
Ward 77 Clr Thulani Dunjana said the load reduction is supposed to take six hours in one area and six hours in the next, however, due to the shutdown which took place on Monday, areas found themselves with more than 12 hours without electricity as the engineers couldn’t enter the area.
Ward 74 Clr Thulani Simelane said, “Poor weather conditions delayed the repair of the transformers on Friday.
There are engineers currently at the substation trying to test one of the two faulty transformers and one has been taken to repairs.”
