Congratulations to the matric class of 2022

Lefa-Ifa Secondary School is still trailing behind with a 53.4 % pass rate in 2022.

Kwatsaduza – Local matriculants joined in the countrywide celebration of the good performance of the matric class of 2022.

This class obtained an overall pass rate of 80.1% countrywide and matrics in Gauteng had an improvement of 84.4% from the 76.4% in 2021.

The Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshegoa said the matric results had an upward trajectory since 2019 with KwaZulu-Natal (83%) and Gauteng (84.4%) contributing the most passing to qualify for university entrance.

Moving closer to home, Zimisele Secondary School is the top achiever in Kwatsaduza having obtained a 92.8 % pass rate. Their top achiever, Manqoba Phore achieved distinctions in accounting, mathematics and business studies.

The school is followed by Tholulwazi Secondary School in Tsakani which obtained 91.4 %. This is an improvement from 88.2% in 2021.

Meanwhile, NN Ndebele Secondary School, which used to be one of the top-performing schools in Duduza, occupies the last position with 75.1%.

This is an improvement from the class of 2021 which achieved 73.4%.

The top achiever at NN Ndebele Secondary School, Xolani Mhlongo achieved six distinctions (physical science, geography, life sciences, mathematics, life orientation and English).

He was followed by Zinhle Nokuda who obtained distinctions in geography, isiZulu and English.

A learner who stood out is Pule Lorato from MOM Secondary School who obtained distinctions in mathematics (99%), physical science (96%), life science (91) and geography (88).

Another school that seems to be struggling to make it out of the 50% mark in Kwatsaduza is Lefa-Ifa Secondary School which improved from 47.5% in 2021 to 53.4 % in 2022.

In KwaThema:

• Zimisele Secondary School improved from 79.5% to 92.8 %

• Tlakula Secondary School improved from 83.2% to 89 %

• Laban Motlhabi Secondary School improved from 81.5% to 85.8%

• Kenneth Masekela Secondary School improved from 77.7% to 83.5%

• Phulong Secondary School improved from 78.6% to 79.5 %

• Nkumbulo Secondary School improved from 78. 9% to 77.3%

• Lefa-Ifa Secondary School improved from 47.5% to 53.4 %

In Duduza:
• Esibonelwesihle Secondary School improved from 66.1% to 83.2 %

• MOM Seboni Secondary School dropped from 83.5% in 2021 to 77.9 %

• Thandi Eleanor Sibeko Secondary School improved from 66.7% to 77.2 %

• Asser Maloka Secondary School improved from 69.5% to 76.1%

• NN Ndebele Secondary School improved from73.4% in 2021 to 75.1%

In Tsakani:

• Tsakane Ext 8 Secondary School improved from 84.6% to 93.3 %

• Tholulwazi Secondary School improved from 88.2% to 91.4 %

• Resogofaditswe Secondary School improved from 73.9% to 83%

• Langaville Secondary School dropped from 81.6% to 81.1 %

• Buhlebemfundo Secondary School had a slight drop from 81.9% to 80 %

• Geluksdal Secondary Secondary School improved from 63.5% to 76.3%

• Mamelong Comprehensive School improved from 70.5% to 76.3%

• Tsakane Secondary School dropped from 78.9% to 72.6 %

• JE Malepe Secondary School dropped their performance from 74.6% to 67.4 %
