Chess to fight GBVF

Learners use chess to fight GBVF.

Kwa-Thema – Learner support agents in the area used every opportunity to educate learners about GBVF and HIV/Aids at the Kwa-Thema Skills Centre on Monday.

They hosted a campaign using chess to commemorate the 16 Days of Activism for no violence against women and children campaign.

Participants from Veritas College, Phulong Secondary School, Nkumbulo Secondary School and Tlakula Secondary School competed in the tournament.

Learner support agent Thabiso Makgoga said with the reports in the media, he realised that some of the perpetrators of abuse are getting younger and younger.

“We read about bullying, murder cases with suspects and victims being learners and other social ills committed by the learners.

“We believe some of these can be avoided if their energy is directed to positive initiatives,” he said.
