WATCH: Amatshitshi celebrate umhlunyane

Kwa-Thema – Injabuloyesizwe Foundation held an umhlonyane ceremony on Saturday in Kwa-Thema.

The foundation has 110 virgin girls from five to 21 years of age and the ceremony was to celebrate six of them who were turning 16 this year.

The foundation director Sihle Setanang said: “We were teaching them how to handle themselves as women. We also gave them advice about life.

“All that happened after we got back from the river as it was the first place we went to. We have experienced that teenage pregnancy is high in our country hence we saw the need to bring virgin girls together, teach them about life and also tell them to focus more on their books,” said Setanang.

Setanang said they also want to focus on boys and educate them on the walks of life.
