Zitha helps share water in Tsakani

The water level at the Zulu reservoir has been affected badly and has now affected the Xhosa reservoir.

Tsakani – As the water outages continue in Tsakani, MMC of Health and Social Development Clr Charlotte Zitha has coordinated interventions to ensure residents have water amid supply interruption.

On Thursday, the MMC spent the day at Tsakani Customer Care Centre (CCC) to coordinate interventions to ensure residents had a supply.

The initiative saw the deployment of a water tanker to Pholosong Regional Hospital and six roving tankers to the affected wards.

“We understand that the area is badly affected by low reservoir levels caused by high water consumption and Rand Water’s stage 2 restrictions.

“The water levels at the Zulu Reservoir have been affected badly, which led to the negative supply to the Xhosa Reservoir.

“Unfortunately, 60% of the areas depend on the Xhosa Reservoir thus water has run out of their taps,” she said.

She added that they are trying to explore other means to help remedy the situation.
