Kwa-Thema’s Ntunja needs your votes to win award

The traditional music artist received a nomination from the first annual Basadi in Music Awards.

Kwa-Thema – Local artist Ntunja has received a nomination at the first annual Basadi in Music Awards in the Traditional Artist of the Year category.

Kwa-Thema’s artist is thrilled to be nominated at the first annual Basadi in Music Awards.

The singer-songwriter, Amanda Nokuthula Nkosi’s career started in 2006 when she joined a jazz band, Sunshine as a vocalist.
She then studied Popular Music and majored in Vocal and Keyboard Technique at Central Johannesburg College.
“The nomination came as a shock since I was not expecting it at all which proves that no hard work goes unnoticed.
“It means so much to me being nominated because it isn’t easy to crack into the industry as a cultural artist.
“Winning it would give me hope,” she explained.

She was part of the Cultural Exchange program, Cultural Flying Carpet which was spearheaded by the late Miriam Makeba and curated by South African Traditional AfroFolk legend, Tu Nokwe.
She has toured the world and has been part of various theatre productions.
Her prominent breakthrough came in 2013 when she was offered an opportunity to join South Africa’s legendary band, The Mahotella Queens.
In September she will be releasing her Extended Play (EP), which she said will give fans an opportunity to get to know her.
“On this project, I have a mixture of everything.
“I have done a lot of features in the past so this body will give an overview of the real Ntunja is and what’s on my mind.
“This project will show that music is universal,” she said.
