Three arrested after pensioner shot and killed

Four armed men shot and killed an unidentified pensioner in Duduza.

Duduza – Three men have been arrested in Johannesburg for the murder of a pensioner in Duduza who was fatally shot on Lekope Street last Thursday afternoon.
It is alleged a white Honda stopped along the busy street and its four occupants opened fire on the unidentified pensioner.
The three suspects were arrested in Johannesburg by members of the Duduza and Springs crime intelligence on Monday.
This is after police investigators were able to trace the car to an address in Hillbrow. Witnesses provided the police with the car’s registration number.

Duduza police spokesperson Sergeant Harry Manaka explained the police didn’t find the car at the said address but it was later spotted by the Jeppe SAPS and the driver was arrested on the scene.
“The suspect later revealed the other suspects.
“They confessed that the driver (on the day of the shooting), who is on the run, was hired by a tavern owner to kill the pensioner,” he added.
Manaka added that they are still searching for the tavern owner and the deceased’s family.
“We are appealing to anyone with information that would help us with the other two suspects’ whereabouts (the driver and tavern owner) to come forward.
“The deceased was wearing a blue striped T-shirt and jacket. We are calling on family members who might know him or have a missing family member to come forward or contact us on 011 810 6093,” he added.
