Medical delivery truck torched in Kwa-Thema during a protest

Police are searching for four men suspected to have torched a medicine delivery truck in Kwa-Thema.

Kwa-Thema – Protesting residents in Kwa-Thema torched an APX courier service truck along Job Maseko Street on Monday morning.
It is alleged the drivers were attacked while waiting at the traffic light.
Kwa-Thema police spokesperson Constable Nkululeko Magidulelo said that the police were able to trace the crew who had fled the scene out of fear for their life.

“They told the police that they had just finished delivering medication at a nearby pharmacy and had taken their usual route to complete their morning deliveries when they stopped at the traffic light.
“Two men stepped in front of the truck demanding the driver and his crew to get out of the truck. They noticed that the truck was already set alight,” he explained.
Magudulelo added that the medicinal products inside the truck have an estimated value of R70 000 and the truck is valued at around R400 000.
It is alleged that about four people were involved in this criminal act.
The truck is fitted with video footage and arrests are imminent.
