Sports confederation to hold executive elections in July

Interim committee wants to revive sports in Kwa-Thema.

Kwa-Thema – Kwa-Thema Sports Confederation will hold its executive elections on July 16, where 10 executive members, including the president and two vice-presidents, will be elected.
This was decided during a meeting held at Kwa-Thema Sports Complex on June 14.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the sporting codes of soccer, athletics, karate, aerobics and dance.
During the meeting, the committee announced that a workshop will be held on June 28, where members will have the opportunity to learn more about the importance and purpose of the body.
The confederation’s interim committee, which currently leads the body until the new executive is formally elected, confirmed that the nominations for people to serve in the executive will be held between now and the date of the congress.
Committee member Vincent Hlatshwayo, who chaired the meeting, explained the significance of the confederation.

“It is important for the confederation to get off the ground.
“I think the last time I heard about dance here in Kwa-Thema I was still a boy.
“I thought we didn’t have it anymore.
“It is very important because the sports confederation isn’t looking at one sport but sports as a whole, and also provides for a desk where we can talk about our issues,” he said.
Meanwhile, the committee’s interim secretary, Prince Rammego, made a plea to the members that they must assist each other with the challenges encountered by all sporting codes.
“We had a challenge with the soccer guys at the stadium, where their balls were getting pricked by objects because there was no grading done.
“I went there recently to check the state of our stadium and I noticed that the long-jump area is now getting infested with grass.
“May we please ensure that there is work to do for the new committee by the time it gets into office,” he said.
