Family’s home destroyed in fire

House owner Basetsana Mahlangu said neighbours alerted her that her house was ablaze.

Kwa-Thema – The home of the Mahlangu family in Legodi Street, Peace Section, caught fire last Tuesday at around 14:00.
House owner Basetsana Mahlangu said neighbours alerted her that her house was ablaze.

The fire gutted the family’s home.

“I am not sure what exactly started the fire because we had load-shedding earlier on. However, the incident happened shortly after the electricity came back on.
“I had come back from fetching my grandchildren from school. We were all sitting in the kitchen.
“We didn’t smell or see anything until some of our neighbours brought it to our attention that other parts of the house were burning,” said Mahlangu.
