Fashion campaign paints the streets red

They used old pieces of clothing and eco-friendly materials, such as plastic and tyres.

Kwa-Thema – Members of eKasi Fashion Week took to the streets on Sunday to showcase inclusivity while paying homage to the homeless with their #FashionHasNoRules campaign.
They campaigned from White City to Duduza Rank (Kwa-Thema Main Rank).
The organisation gives a platform to designers, models and those who are in the beauty industry in the township.
Co-founder of the organisation Nkosinathi Zwane said they collaborated with Exclusivity Designs.

“This allows creative entrepreneurs to express, network and market themselves through the platform.
“The look is inspired by our very own model, Emmanuel Thizza Fellow, who grew up on the streets for most of his life.
“It then explains our hobo-look theme.
“We also created this campaign to celebrate him,” explained Zwane.
They used old pieces of clothing and eco-friendly materials, such as plastic and tyres.

He added as fashion creators, their motive is to make people feel comfortable in what they wear.
“You can wear anything anytime because fashion has no rules.
“We received a lot of love from young people living on the streets.
“You could tell they can relate to our message. We wanted to show them we are forever representing the streets of eKasi.”
They plan to take the campaign across the country, as they believe it represents the realities of South Africa.
