Coaches trained in developing grassroot sports

“We also touched on the issue of how to be competitive and developing a winning mentality.”

Kwa-Thema – Local coaches in Kwa-Thema braved the cold weather to attend a development workshop hosted at Kenneth Masekela Secondary School on Saturday.
The workshop was facilitated by Moroka Swallows junior coach Simon ‘Whitey’ Tshowa.
The pilot workshop hosted by the Springs Local Football Association aimed to empower local coaches and arm them with skills to improve grassroots sports.
Prince Rammego said the event tackled issues that included the causes of injuries which could be avoided and ways to avoid them.

“The facilitator shared ways to manage teams, overaged players, training fields, player development, grassroots development and youth training.
“We also touched on the issue of how to be competitive and develop a winning mentality.
“We believe if the young players are coached and mentored at a very young age they will be able to reach for their dreams of playing professionally,” he said.
Rammego added he is happy the coaches turned up in numbers to support the initiative.
“We are planning to expand the next initiative to Kwatsaduza to ensure not one coach is left behind,” he added.
