Police take safety awareness to the streets

Tsakani – Members of the police recently took to the streets in the fight against crime.
The campaign started with a vehicle control point, which concentrated on the search of any illegal items in vehicles.
Officers also distributed pamphlets encouraging safety, and motorists were warned about increased hijackings in the area.

Tsakani police spokesperson Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu said the second phase of the operation included patrols around Tsakani as part of crime prevention.
“The awareness drive is continuous throughout the zone in order to fight crime. Motorists were made aware of the increasing rate of car hijacking incidents and warned to be alert at all time while driving,” she said.
