Drug traders arrested

Those arrested were found in possession of narcotics and cash believed to have been collected unlawfully.

Tsakani – Five people were arrested during a crime-prevention operation in Greenfield and Tsakani by members of the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit on Thursday.

Two men were nabbed along Mabunduza Street in Tsakani at around 10.15pm.

According to EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng, the duo was found in possession of 19 ziplock bags of khat valued at R3 800 and was taken to the Tsakani Police Station.
In the Greenfield area, two women and a man aroused the suspicion of patrolling members.
After a search of the trio, officers uncovered Mandrax tablets (quarters, half and full), five ziplock bags of khat, 18 ziplock bags of crystal meth, 46 loose plastic bags and paper-wrapped and ziplock bags of dagga valued at R12 136 with R240 cash.

Two men were cornered along Mabunduza Street in Tsakani and found in possession of narcotics.

“The apprehended trio were escorted to the Eden Park Police Station,” he said.
The detained group face charges of possession and possible dealing in illicit substances and are expected to appear in the Palm Ridge and Tsakani magistrate’s courts soon.
