Man hijacked after stopping to inspect truck

Along with the truck, which is valued at R1.3-million, the victim’s cellphone, money and shoes were taken.

A truck driver was briefly held hostage by his hijackers on the R42 last Thursday evening.
The victim told police he had just reached the Endicott crossing when he felt there was something wrong with the truck.
He pulled over and got out of the truck to inspect it when he was approached by two men.
The two men told the victim he must comply with their instructions or they would kill him.

After it was clear the victim was going to comply, the two men got into the passenger side of the truck and told him to drive until he reached the Delmas R555 Road.
They then ordered him to stop and get into the back of the truck.
Once he was in the compartment, they tied his hands together with cable ties.
Another man then arrived and drove the truck to the R42 between Bronkhorstspruit and Delmas, where they dropped the victim off.

The man drove off towards Bronkhorstspruit, leaving the victim behind with the two men who initially approached him.
The victim managed to escape the following morning around 2am, and fled to the nearest farm where he was assisted by the security guard and taken to the Delmas Police Station.
Along with the truck, which is valued at R1.3-million, the victim’s cellphone, money and shoes were taken.
