Essentials donated to mothers at FERH

NPO dedicated to helping new mothers

Mthunzi Community Development donated items to the Far East Rand Hospital’s maternity ward on Thursday.
The NPO realised that many mothers have fallen on hard times during lockdown, and a lack of income made it more difficult for them to buy clothes for their babies.

These donations, called love packs, were made possible through the generous contributions from various donors who responded to the call to join the baby clothing drive which was launched on July 27.
The packs contain various necessities for both mother and baby and include items such as a baby bathtub, clothing, a blanket, nappies, and toiletries.

“There were so many stories of mothers leaving the hospitals with their children wrapped in only old hospital sheets,. We knew we had to give them our support,” said project coordinator Elaine Bengani.
