Relief for Vita Nova

Vita Nova receives much-needed supplies

Spirits were high on Friday morning at the Vita Nova Centre when Springs police delivered some much-needed supplies.

Essential supplies such as toiletries and clothing have been running thin at the centre since lockdown, and the facility reached out to the community for help.

Many kind residents have responded to their plight, and the centre has been able to continue operating due to these donations.

Vita Nova is a non-profit organisation and relies solely on fund-raising events to continue operating.

Two trucks carrying clothes, toiletries, toys and food arrived, much to the delight of the residents.

Springs police worked in partnership with Pep, Unilever and Springs Hot Pot Paint and Hardware to make the donations possible.

Pep area manager Shaheen Petersen says: “We are very proud to be a sponsor of this event.

“It feels good to make a difference in peoples’ lives, and give them some hope.

“The Vita Nova Centre is extremely grateful for the donations, which will bring them much relief, especially during the colder months.”

“We feel very blessed knowing the people of Springs are willing to open their hearts and help.”

Capt Johannes Ramphora of the Springs police says the day celebrates the spirit of Nelson Mandela.

“We have been working hard with many members of the community, and I am very proud of their eager response to help those in need,” says Ramphora.
