Tsakani production company brings local stories to the people

"The inspiration comes from big productions that have used our townships for shooting movies. That's an indication of how powerful and important our stories are."

Tsakani -Videographer and photographer Tshepo Mlotha of Mlotha Film productions has partnered with Jabu Maseko for a zero-budgeted movie titled The Chase.

The movie is set to benefit the unemployed youth of Kwatsaduza, with filming taking place in Tsakani, Kwa-Thema and Langaville.

“The movie is mainly for educational purposes.

“We want to educate our community about film making, developing undiscovered talent, telling our own stories and also learning from them.

“The inspiration comes from big productions that have used our townships for shooting movies. That?s an indication of how powerful and important our stories are.

Young film makers use art to educate the public about gangsterism and corruption.

“We might be a small production but undoubtedly with a big vision,” says Maseko.

The story line explores township lifestyle, leadership, corruption and puts gangsterism under spotlight.

Filming started three weeks ago and production will be wrapping up within seven weeks.

“Our goal is to produce a product we are going to be proud of, our community will be proud of and of great quality.

“Currently, we are looking for investors to invest in our project, whether from Kwatsaduza or surrounding areas.

“The most urgent need is food for the crew and cast members,” he adds.
