Sibusiso Xaba, popularly known as DJ Bojas, is a South African record producer and DJ.

“I started playing keys in church for the choir and went on to become the musical director.

“That is how my career started,” he explains.

How can we support local talent?

He says one of the highlights of his career was being part of a band called Y-Co Ensemble, where he had the opportunity to play for Nelson Mandela at a Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund function.

While he was working at Youth Connection, a youth development programme in KwaThema, he worked as a music teacher and started to learn about sound engineering, studio work and DJing.

In 2008, he started working at Pyramid Studios, owned by Soulcandi Records, with Afropop singer Lesego on his second album.

“That experience opened a lot of doors for me.

“I worked with Tuks Senganga, DJ Fresh, Howza, Madoda, Tass Man, Guffy and US music maestro Harrison Crump.”

DJ Bojas is presently signed to his record label, BOJ Entertainment.

His says his music has a lot of influence from the guys he has met, and he feels it will touch souls.

He has ambitions and wants to make a difference by inspiring people with his music while helping the youth who want to make it in the music industry to remain focused.

“There is a lot to be done in life, so I don’t want to be just another musician; I want to be the change.”

His new offering is an extended-play (EP) title No Retreat, No Surrender.

He features Ntshebza, Ceeboo, Lele and Ntowkie – all local artists.

“I made the EP to create a platform to explore and expose the talent we have ekasi in the art of music,” he explains.

The music is available at most digital stores.
