Ekuthuleni informal settlement residents concerned about the possible spread of Covid-19

Ekuthuleni informal settlement and Mkhanqwa ward clr Thulani Simelane says: “So far, we are happy with how our people are willing to learn and do everything they can to stay safe.

“We teach them about social distancing and washing hands thoroughly and in an effective manner.

“The challenge with informal settlements is that people live very closely to each other and as previously stated, the sharing of resources.

“We are therefore also pleading with them to be responsible and keep in mind the importance of ensuring that their surroundings are clean.”

He says the biggest challenge is a lack of hand sanitisers.

“We are reaching out to private companies for help with hand soap and hand sanitisers.

“We are going to continue to provide education on the virus,” says Simelane.
