Duduza police educate learners about acceptable behaviour in schools

“We have identified that some of the learners start experimenting with drugs and joining gangs at a very young age.

Duduza – Duduza police visited Zakheni Primary School on Tuesday during their school safety campaign.

This was a joint venture between SAPS, the Department of Community Safety and the Department of Basic Education and is aimed at ensuring the culture of learning and teaching goes ahead without incident.

Thomas Shoko from the Department of Community Safety cautioned learners from bullying and violent behaviour in school.

“You must keep a clear head as you prepare for high school, and stay away from violent behaviour,” he says.

Duduza police spokesperson Sgt Harry Manaka talked about the protection of children against all forms of abuse.

He also warned them about committing crime, such as stealing and substance abuse.

“We have identified that some of the learners start experimenting with drugs and joining gangs at a very young age.

“Through these initiatives we are cautioning them from this behaviour,” he explains.

Manaka says the campaign will be carried out at other schools in Duduza as well.
