Tsakane resident hijacked at the traffic light

They removed him from the car and drove off.

Tsakane – Police are investigating a case of car hijacking after a resident’s Mercedes Benz was hijacked on corner Geluksdal and R23 on Monday evening.

It is alleged the victim had stopped at the red light when two armed men, driving in a red VW Polo without a registration plate demanded that he steps out of the car.

They removed him from the car and drove off.

Tsakane police spokesperson, Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu, says police investigations are still underway.

Tsakane SAPS station commander Col Johannes Maass sensitise motorists to be cautious when driving around and approaching the robots because incidents of car hijacking are increasing lately.

He also warned the community not to park their vehicles on the pavement or community parks and sit inside during the night as that gives an opportunity to hijackers.
