U-14 KwaThema Cricket Club wins against Duduza Cricket Club

Home team KwaThema Cricket Club, who were the first ones to bet, managed to claim victory against visitors Duduza Cricket Club by 52 runs, eight wickets and 20 overs.

KwaThema – The u-14 cricket showcase brought a thrilling experience and a lot of competitiveness to the field on Saturday at the KwaThema Sports Complex.

Home team KwaThema Cricket Club, who were the first ones to bet, managed to claim victory against visitors Duduza Cricket Club by 52 runs, eight wickets and 20 overs.

KwaThema Cricket Club team captain Tebogo Mvubelo (14) says the game was very competitive.

“I think my team played extremely well, but the game wasn’t an easy one. Our opponents played very well as well. I liked the energy they brought to the field.

“But I am happy with how the game ended and would like to say thank you to everyone who brought their A game and to the fans as well,” says Mvubelo.

Local cricket teams bring their A game to KwaThema Sports Complex.

Club coach Themba Msipha says cricket is not getting as much support compared to other sporting code.

“We are still struggling in terms of support from the community as people still view cricket as a white man’s sport, but we are fighting to break those stereotypes.

“Another issue is that people still regard it as an expensive sport, but fortunately for us, it is not as bad as we are being assisted by the Eastern Cricket Union, especially with equipment and transport fees,” says Msipha.

Those who would like to play for the club are invited for training at the Sports Complex from Monday to Friday at 2pm to 6pm.
