Four plus one taxis allowed inside Tonk Meter Crossing

“We are urging residents to use their services for easy convenience to the shopping centre."

KwaThema – Tonk Meter Crossing Shopping Centre and KwaThema Four Plus One Taxis officially launched their collaboration on Saturday.

As of last Saturday, the taxis are allowed to drop off their passengers inside the shopping complex.

Children were given an opportunity to learn how to read out loud, colour in and win prizes while their parents were shopping.

Tonk Meter Crossing marketing manager Carolynne Weedon says this will ensure convenience and safety for the shoppers.

“Previously, these taxis were not allowed to operate inside the shopping complex, but were forced drop off their passengers at the small gate outside.

Phefi Vava, Nkosana Gazo amd Tallulah Brady participated in the launch of the collaboration between Tonk Meter Crossing and KwaThema Four Plus One Taxis.

“We are urging residents to use their services for easy convenience to the shopping centre.

“We have introduced a system in where when a driver drops off a passenger inside the shopping complex, they will receive a point.

“By the end of the campaign, the one with the most points will be crowned the winner,” she explains.

The chairperson of KwaThema Four Plus One Taxis Sakhele Mndebele says they appreciate the initiative even though there are no structures set in place to accommodate them.

“For now, we are happy that our passengers no longer have to use the small gate and be forced to carry their heavy groceries outside the centre to access transportation,” he explains.
