Police educate learners about crime

Tsakane – Police officers from Tsakane visited Tholulwazi Secondary School and Tsakane Secondary School to educate learners about crime and substance abuse.

The team was led by Tsakane SAPS station commander Col Johannes Maass, who addressed the learners during their first school assembly.

Tsakane police spokesperson Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu says they decided to offer support to the educators, especially on the first day of school.

“Tholulwazi Secondary School is one of the schools that had challenges last year and often times social crime prevention had to be stepped up and we had to intervene to make sure the learning environment is conducive for teaching and learning.

“We are proud that regardless of the challenges the school faced and through police assistance in enforcing the law and giving motivational talks, they managed to be crowned a top-performing school in the area.

“The school obtained a 93.4% pass rate in the National Senior Certificate exams, last year’s was 86.4%.”

Maass says he is proud of the learners’ achievements and encouraged them to keep flying the school’s flag high and making Tsakane proud.

“We are here to support and protect you, but we also need you to work with us by reporting any forms of crimes,” he says.
