The metro says unforeseen refuse truck breakdowns are to blame for them not collecting rubbish on schedule.
This comes after an outcry by residents and businesses over the poor state of the Springs CBD in the past two weeks.
Metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe says refuse was collected.
Gadebe went on to say the CBD is divided into two areas for business refuse collection.

“West of 5th Avenue, collection is on Mondays and Thursdays.
“East of 5th Avenue, collection is on Tuesday and Friday.
“Litter-picking services are rendered daily and the filled bags are supposed to be collected in the afternoons,” says Gadebe.
