Jealous Down FC win Ace Auto Ayoba Future Stars u-17 Tournament

KwaThema – December 14 marked the end of the Ace Auto Ayoba Future Stars u-17 Tournament.

The tournament took place at KwaThema Stadium.

Tornado Lions FC took on Jealous Down FC, losing 2-0.

The final was between Kathrous FC and Jealous Down, which Jealous Down won 1-0.

Founder of Jealous Down Christopher Mtshali is urging local teams to support local tournaments.

“The tournament was well organised; it was fun and there’s talent in our township.

“What was disappointing was the lack of support through participation from local teams as we only had two teams representing Kwatsaduza and Springs,” says Mtshali.

Njabulo Hlongwane (16) from Jealous Down was named player of the tournament.

Melanie Madinga, Kathrous FC coach, says: “We came as defending champions, but unfortunately we lost in the final.

“We are coming back next year to reclaim our position.

“Overall, the tournament gives great exposure to young players and it is a great development tool.

“Most importantly, we had fun.”
