Two Duduza men arrested for stealing booze

“The second suspect had already managed to get out with some liquor and was chased and apprehended by residents who had joined the police in search of the suspects,” he explains.

Duduza – Two suspects were arrested for allegedly breaking into a liquor store and stealing liquor on Wednesday.

The two were hiding in the ceiling of the Old Sipho Liquor Shop in Nala Street in Duduza when police arrived.

Duduza police spokesperson Sgt Harry Manaka says the manager at the liquor store, Sibusiso Mtshali, received information from neighbours that there were people seen on the roof of the liquor store.

“He immediately alerted the police who were patrolling around the area, then also drove to the store.

“Upon arrival, the police searched and manged to apprehend one suspect who was hiding in the ceiling of the store.

“The second suspect had already managed to get out with some liquor and was chased and apprehended by residents who had joined the police in search of the suspects,” he explains.

Manaka adds that this was not the first time the liquor store was broken into.

“The police had intensified their patrol in and monitoring of the area, and as a result they manged to react quickly to the break in.

“The two suspects are expected to appear in the Nigel Magistrate’s Court,” he adds.
