Mawesh returns with new Gqom single
Mawesh, whose real name is Ishmael Masemola, has released a new Gqom song after a hiatus from the music scene.
Tsakane – Hip-hop artist Mawesh makes a musical comeback with a new song, Rabaki, which means a person who associates themselves with people who have money for freebies.

“My fans and artists whom I have previously worked with have been pressuring me to release new music for a while now, that is why I have decided to come back because this for me shows that people truly appreciated my music,” explains Mawesh.

He says the change of sound doesn’t mean he will no longer be producing hip-hop singles.
“I consider myself a musician and as such one needs to experiment with different sounds.
“I wanted to offer something different my fans and music lovers can relate to, and Gqom is a relatable sound which you do not have to understand the lyrics for you to jam to it,” he says.
He says fans can expect more new music from him and he is looking to work with new talent.

“When I started, the focus was on the brand, but with my fan base growing I have decided to work with other local talents, including up-and-coming musicians as well.
“I will be recording songs of different genres and not only focusing on hip-hop.”
