Local basketball team shines at basketball tournament

The tournament was open to female teams as well.

KwaThema – The KwaThema Wolves Basketball Club received silver medals at the Sasol Unidos Basketball tournament.

The tournament was held at Embalenhle Sasol Club Basketball Court, in Secunda, on Saturday.

Eight teams participated in the tournament, which was for the u-20 and senior games.

The tournament was open to female teams as well.

KwaThema Wolves coach Sipho Nkosi says: “The team has so much potential. What is limiting us at the moment is the court we use for practice. Because it is not fully structured we only use it as a half court.

“The community doesn’t respect us as well, because while we practise, they just pass through the court, which is disturbing,” says Nkosi.

The team lost to Sasol Unidos Basketball Club by 65 – 31.

Team captain Tshepo Kgwetia says: “We did our best for the day and managed to come back home with silver medals. What we took away from the game is that we must work on our pace and be very disciplined during practice.”
