Rappers invited to second annual Zaka Fest

Zaka Fest rap battle happening on November 30.

KwaThema – Zaka Fest’s second annual hip-hop festival is set to take place at the KwaThema Community Hall on November 30.

In preparation for the main event, local rappers within Kwatsaduza are invited to an audition for an epic rap battle on November 23 at the Eypilini Lounge Extension Three.

Talented MCs will be selected for the top eight for the main event, where they will be battling for the number one spot.

Event organiser Nkosinathi Zwane says: “We want to revive the rap culture, and this event will also be an opportunity to celebrate young and local talent.

“Because of the positive outcome we had last year, this year we decided to up the standard.

“The best MC will win R2 000 prize money, and, on the night, we will be looking for the best-dressed male and female, who will each win R1 000.

“The crowd will get to decide who our winners are. We are encouraging everyone to come and support local talent and they must dress to the nines,” he says.

Organiser Mosley Rababalela says they are also encouraging female rappers to join.

“The event is open to everyone and we are encouraging female rappers to come and audition, but one thing we must emphasise is that we are looking for rappers and not trap MCs,” says Rababalela.

For the main event, gates will open at 4pm. Included in the line-up are Neek Neym, PK and King Nelly, with the main headliner being Flame.
