Four young local athletes to compete at OR Tambo Soncini games

Bhayoyo athletes will be participating in the upcoming OR Tambo Soncini Social Cohesion Games.

Mzumbe – Four u-14 athletes from Bhayoyo Athletics Academy will be representing Kwatsaduza in the upcoming annual OR Tambo Soncini Social Cohesion Games.

The Bhayoyo Athletics Academy coach, Charles Bhayoyo Vilakazi, says: “We feel confident.

“The team has been doing very well and there is a lot at stake because the winner will be given an opportunity to represent the country in Italy next year June, but I have faith in my boys that they will do us proud.”

The games will be hosted by the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, in partnership with the Ekurhuleni metro, on Saturday and Sunday at Germiston Stadium.

Banele Khumalo will be participating in the 400m and 100m races; he says he is ready for the upcoming games.

“I am not nervous about Saturday, our coach has prepared us well and we have also been putting in the work,” says Khumalo.
