Young woman (19) raped by man she met on social media

“Many social media users are not always innocent and use these platforms to target young women.”

KwaThema – Police are urging young women to refrain from meeting up with men they met on social media.

This is after a young woman (19), who met a man on Facebook and arranged to meet up with him on October 2, was raped over the weekend.

“Many social media users are not always innocent and use these platforms to target young women.

“We are pleading to users of social media to alert someone close to them, either friends or family members, about their location and who they are meeting up with.

“This information would be useful for the police should you go missing,” she says.
